MOAR EARRINGS!

Somehow, the more work I have to do, the more jewelry I make. You can decide whether it's due to procrastination or well-constructed study breaks.

EARRINGS!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! (except for my friends in Britain. but if you're nice to me I'll let you have some turkey.) In celebration of the best North American holiday ever created, I present to you: EARRINGS! and not just earrings, but SEA GLASS earrings! That's right, beach-combing has paid off once again, as it should have, because walking on a Scottish beach in November is quite literally freezing. Beautiful, but unbelievably cold.

In fact, it's supposed to snow tomorrow! I've been jealous all week of the Pacific NW. My friends in Walla Walla, Boise, and Ashland have been getting inches and inches of snow. Just in time for the holidays!

And speaking of which, wouldn't a great Hannukah/Christmas/Solstice/Saturnalia gift be a pair of earrings?

Yep, that's what I thought.

[UPDATE]: IT'S SNOWING!!

Knitwear, baby!

Hey, all!
I've taken a slight break from jewelry-making to knit a bit. I'm making some warm accessories because it's getting SOOO cold here right now. It's certainly nose-biting frosty weather, and my ears and hands are suffering without some cute knits to warm them. Below is a headband/earwarmer I invented & made today - simple, versatile, yet popping with color. Definitely a relief amidst the grey weather and dark British clothing.
Clover
Buttercup

$18

*a pretty little headband/earwarmer*

Size: 19.5" circumference, 2.75" width before stretching.
Yarn: chunky Cygnet yarn.
Pattern: basketweave stitch.

Jewelry Update

Hello, readers! (are you out there?)

For those of you who don't know - which seems to be unlikely, as I'm supposing the vast majority of you all are friends and family - I'm currently in Scotland. More specifically, the lovely little hamlet of St. Andrews where I'm attending university abroad for the fall semester. The University of St. Andrews is located right on the sea:

Consequently, I go beachcombing once or twice a week. Now, normally I'm not a fan of beaches (seriously, the sand gets everywhere), but this beach is rocky and craggy and wonderful. Here is what I've collected so far, and what you all can look forward to seeing made into some lovely jewelry come February:

My favorite pieces I've found so far:

As you can see, there's a lot of sea glass. I'm supposing because this is because of the University of St. Andrews. University students + beach = bonfires & drinking = abandoned bottles which get swept out to sea, tumbled about, and return as worn shards of sea glass. You can even see the bottle texturing on some of the green glass pieces above.

I LOVE the ceramic pieces. My friend Sophia found the blue one for me. It's always a lovely surprise to find one, because I never expect to discover pottery on a beach. I think they'll make some exceptional necklaces.

If you want to commission any jewelry made out of the materials above, email me at edowapparel@gmail.com
